ESC Volunteer for AAP Primadomus – Only Dutch
The help of hundreds of volunteers has been essential in making AAP’s work and the day-to-day care of our animals possible. We are immensely grateful for all the time dedicated by selfless people like you who want to make the lives of animals and the planet a little bit better. For our part, we try to support our volunteers to make their stay as easy as possible.

Your role
At AAP Primadomus we are looking for two ESC volunteers.
We are looking for two enthusiastic Dutch volunteers that would like to participate in the ESC program during 1 year starting in September 2025. You will be working in the two departments of Primadomus: Primates and Big Cats where we focus on the physical and mental recovery of the recue primates like barbary macaques and chimpanzees, and the big cats, like tigers, lions and caracals.
You will work under the supervision of an experienced animal caretaker team and will mainly focus on the cleaning activities in and around the animal enclosures (this is 70% of the daily work). In addition, you will make enrichment for the animals, help with the furnishing of the accommodation and with minor technical maintenance. You will also help with reporting peculiarities regarding the animals’ nutrition, behavior and health. You will work according strict protocols.
ESC period:
From the 1st of September 2025 to the 31st of August 2026
What we ask for
- You have reached the minimum age of 18 (maximum age 30).
- You like to work hard and you have affinity with the objectives of AAP.
- You have a basic knowledge of spoken and written English.
- You are in good physical health.
- You are accurate and can work independently as well as in a (fluctuating) team.
- You are a Dutch citizen.
